welcome to the world

our world changed the moment you arrived.
and nothing else has mattered since.
here are a few things i love about you:
i love waking up to the sound of your squeaks.
i pinch myself every morning realizing over and over you're here to stay.
i love finding tiny socks around the house that have slipped off your skinny feet.
i love that your left leg always springs loose, just like we felt it in the womb.
i love that you sleep four hour stretches at night. (just hoping that continues!!)
i love how you hold your hands to your face when you sleep.
i love your soft skin that smells so perfect after your baths.
i love how your eyes always look toward the light in the room.
i can't believe you're already one week old.
i can't believe you're already one week old.
i love how patient you are with me.
i love your open mouthed kisses.
i love your open mouthed kisses.
i love your milk-drunk smiles.
i love your rosebud lips.
i love being your mom.
i will post pictures another time (we only have hundreds upon hundreds already haha), but i wanted to first post a little video i made with the collection of footage we had from the hospital. those two days for bry and i were absolute heaven, and time flew by faster than it's ever gone before.
i obviously don't have too much footage from the actual moment ellie arrived. however, there is a huge part of me that is forever grateful that moment wasn't "documented" in video or picture form. it was left preciously undisturbed. sometimes i strongly believe it's the most important moments of our life that need to be left undocumented, and instead, fully experienced. there is something beautiful about that.
that moment ellie arrived and we saw her take her first breath of air is a moment i froze in time completely and we were literally weeping tears of happiness. there is no way to accurately describe the miracle of watching a human life begin outside the womb without experiencing it yourself firsthand. you moms out there know exactly what i'm talking about... that moment you were frozen in time, consumed by nothing but awe and joy. ellie came out crying, but the second they laid her on my chest with her heartbeat next to mine, all i had to do was softly whisper, "Hi, Ellie. It's me, Mom." Her body went completely still and bry and i spent the next hour marveling over her tiny body, perfect hands and feet, watching her chest rise and fall, admiring her wakeful and curious eyes, and wondering how we got so lucky to be the parents of the most beautiful creation. from the second we met her, we felt we knew her, and she was ours to keep.
so for all of you that haven't had the opportunity yet, meet our
