35 week update

here's my 35 (and a half) week baby update

3 5  W E E K S

where to start?

being pregnant for the first time has been one of the most miraculous things i've been able to be a part of. it's also been one of the most challenging things i've ever had to experience. but i already think of this little sweetie as our biggest accomplishment. i love her beyond belief.

these last few weeks though... wow. being pregnant is a funny thing you know.

bending down to pick something up has become a laborious matter.
sometimes i forget i have toes.
i walk up a flight of stairs and i feel like i've just run a marathon.
bry has officially been replaced at night by 3-4 pillows (sorry honey!)
the combination of having to get up to pee in the odd hours of the morning + turning from side to side is giving me some idea of what it'll be like to not get much sleep.
my choice of clothes to wear is diminishing on the daily.
i'd rather just wear a tent anyway.
my belly button has not only flipped inside out, but is stretching wider by the day. awkward.
i believe i'm carrying some sort of karate kid or world-class acrobat. literally, she never sleeps. we're in trouble with this one.

but i also feel like this sliver of time is going by too fast. much too fast. this babe i've carried now for over 35 weeks has been with me through thick and thin.

she knows me already... she knows how i love to laugh, she knows my baby voice as i talk with the other babies at the hospital, she knows how i sound when i cry, she knows my deepest dreams as i talk out loud to myself in my car (please tell me i'm not the only one...), she knows my personal struggles, she knows my goofy side, she comes with me on all my morning runs, she knows my fear of spiders, she knows the songs i play to her on the piano and guitar, she knows the smell of my favorite cookies ... she is with me everywhere. and even though it's becoming incredibly hard and uncomfortable to carry her everywhere, i honestly think a big part of me is going to miss having her right there all the time.

because right now, she depends entirely on me. my voice soothes her to sleep, and wakes her up. right now, she holds on to me and i am literally giving her life.
i know there will be a time when she won't want to hold onto me.
and when i'll have to watch from the sidelines as she fails and succeeds.
i just always hope she knows how much bry and i love her, and how much we hope every day that she'll find the things that make her happy. she has already brought us so much happiness.

size of baby: as big as a cantaloupe, ~20 inches long, ~5 pounds

cravings: still fruit, fruit, and all things fruit! thank goodness for peach season!!

what i love most right now: days off work. i love my job, but let's be honest... my scrubs barely fit anymore, and 12 hour shifts on my feet are starting to become harder than i thought. i also love the little things bry does... i love when he puts his lips right on my belly and talks to her like they're best buds. he always uses the loudest voice so she can "be sure to hear him," and it makes me laugh so hard. and then after he feels her wiggle around to the sound of his voice, he kisses her a million times straight through my skin. i love that.  i also have been cherishing all my alone time with bry. we've had such a fun time spending the last couple weekends at one of our cabins on the weber river. we've also loved our hikes, nights where we've hosted parties with friends, our drives in the canyon, putting together some of the last projects in our home, our morning work-outs together, our date nights... seriously we are living in the moment lately, and it's been the best.

here are some pictures as of late. get ready for the "photo dump" of the century.

our weekends at Holiday Park...
catchin' fish, fires at night to roast marshmallows, horseshoes (thanks to our friends Gail and Will, we now know the official rules), taking walks with the babe.
^cutest and happiest grandpa-to-be in the entire world
i have some sort of obsession with this old kitchen from 1890^
hi bambi^
^^bry INSISTED upon me buying this shirt so i could have one that was "almost as good" as his hamster shirt... and he has been killing me lately with these animations he comes up with of us with our little girl haha. they make me laugh so hard. this is a new favorite.
^our good friend Stacey who is the absolute SWEETEST girl, offered to take some maternity photos of us as a gift. we've only seen a few, but we are in love with how they turned out and can't wait to see the rest! Stacey, if you are reading this, THANK YOU! We will cherish these photos forever. xoxo
i feel like we live in the most beautiful area, and my morning runs have been my favorite time of the day.
^weekends at the Wallsburg Cabin
hikes and then Carl's Cafe scones after... please do yourself a favor and try these!
puppy sitting for the cutest pup in all the land... DUKE^^ it was like christmas waking up to see him every morning.
